Integrating schools along socioeconomic and racial lines, based on programs like those in Cambridge, Eden Prairie, and New York, would improve outcomes for all students.

What measures would you take to improve education in this country?

Education and literacy are the core of an evolving society. However it is flawed with high costs, huge bridge to the work force and we currently are 10th in the world graduation rate (source: oecd).

Education is becoming privatized & corporatized via charter schools & vouchers. We need to fully fund public education & stop giving tax dollars to charter schools, private schools, & homeschoolers.

Florida's overall public school rating plummeted from 6th in 2013 to 28th as reported in 2015. Standardized testing and school" grading" is used to determine if that school will be funded more or less

What do you think about focusing more on critical thinking skills at K-12?

At the college level and in private schools, they focus on critical thinking more than in public schools. College is too late for many and obviously only the affluent can afford private schools.

Will you repeal the excess credit surcharge for public University students

The act forces public Florida universities to raise tuition 50% when a student exceeds 120 credit. This does not allow students to take more broad courses and explore different opportunitie.

Would you or did you support a bill to raise teachers minimum salary?

There was been a bill in 2015 that, if passed, would raise minimum salary for all "instructional personnel" to 50k which can help both students, schools, and teachers in a number of ways.

Do you support access to high quality early care and education for every child?

Investments in young children have a high return and are essential for equal opportunity. Child care allows parents to work & be more productive employees. This should be as high a priority as K-12.
