WELCOME TO THE
FLORIDA OPEN DEBATE
What are you going to do to reform the campaign finance system?
How will you work with the President to make a viable campaign finance system? 90% of Americans believe that money needs to get out of politics.
How would you address campaign finance reform?
Do you feel corporate donations influence politicians and their decisions? Would you support amendments that restrict not just the amount of funds coming into a campaign but the sources of the money?
What have you done in the HoR to oppose corrupt campaign finance laws?
Since the SCOTUS's ruling in Citizens United v. FEC, the amount of outside money spent on political campaigns has more than doubled.
Will you take a pledge to support campaign finance reform ?
Do you support the concept of 'one person, one vote', and will you do everything in your power to end the 'legal bribery' which the Citizens United decision and others, have essentially co-signed ?
How would you work towards getting money OUT of politics?
How can you help get congress back to working for the people? E.g. campaign time limits, equal PSAs/Media coverage, limited terms, obligations to large donors?
Would you support a state funded campaign system?
Citizens United is the first step, but to get corruption and bribery out of politics it needs to be funded by the state.
What will you do towards the goal of getting money out of politics?
It's very simple- big money is heavily influencing elections at all levels. What are your goals in evening the playing field for the middle class?
What will you do to get money out of politics?
This election cycle has shown Americans are growing ever tired of big money interests hijacking our policies. What will you do to fix this problem?
Do you agree that money in politics will lead to our democratic demise?
If so, what are your plans to eliminate it?
Do you support getting big money out of politics?
In our current democracy run amok million of dollars in contributios corrupt our elected officials. Would you be willing to join the fight to take our democracy back?
Who are your main campaign contributors, and how will you end money in politics?
Because their is a lack of transparency in American political finances, we would like to know who you are here to represent, and whether or not you plan to over turn the Citizens United decision.
What specifically would you do to remove corporate/lobbyist money from politics?
Beyond and separate from the supreme court overturning Citizens United, what would you do to cap, eliminate, make transparent, and end the corruption in Washington from corporate money?
What will you do to decrease the influence of dark money in politics?
The Founding Fathers did not envision elections that are won by who can raise the most money. What will you do to push publicly-financed campaigns and work toward repealing Citizens United?
Will you do everything in your power to stop the unlimited money in politics?
Will you fix the problem or be part of the problem?
Will you support campaign finance reform when in office?
Junior Senators are advised to spend half their day dialing wealthy donors asking for campaign contributions. How much time do you plan on spending doing so rather than representing Floridians?
What is your position the current campaign financing system ?
Many Americans are concerned that if our elected officials spend 1/3rd of their time on diapers speaking to elites in power to pitch for donations that it will altar the point of view of the official
Why is Congress focused more on collecting contribution than their constituents
My Congress Woman, Grace Meng's staffing was concerned more about collecting funding for the next race than in helping a constituent resolve a problem with Social Security. Constituents matter.
What can be done to reform campaign funding?
Campaign funding is out of control. Politicians who lose their funding also lose their jobs. Legislation can easily be bought by fundraisers, lobbyists and super PACS. Lots of talk and no action.
Would you support encouraging or requiring states adopt vote by mail?
Voting by mail can increase turnout and solve accessibility problems for working people, many disabled people, elderly people, and other classes vulnerable to disenfranchisement.
